Excerpts via The Village Voice’s Daily Voice blog in the Runnin’ Scared subsection entitled: Bill O'Reilly Shocked that Sylvia's Harlem Restaurant is Normal and posted: 4:01 PM, September 24, 2007 by Michael Clancy:

So Bill O'Reilly (Falafel Loofah) went to lunch with Al Sharpton at Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem and was surprised to find that the famed soul food eatery was just like any other restaurant in the city, this despite the fact that it's run and patronized by black folks. O'Reilly noted "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.' You know, I mean, everybody was—it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all."

Wherein the Jena 6 are concerned Rosa Clemente rants:

Where are the white progressives, where is the white left, where are all the white people who have benefited from hip hop culture when it comes to standing up for members of the hip hop generation, I do not ask where black and brown and Asian and indigenous folks were. It is interesting that the white anti-war movement does not see the war in their Amerikkkan backyard, at the end of the day white "left", "progressives" "antiwar" believe the America is redeemable but we as revolutionary folk of color know that you can never eat around a rotten apple and not get sick. I am looking for the white anti-imperialists, the David Gilberts and Laura Whitehorns of this generation. Holla, if you hear this. As Chuck D one said, "you may love hip hop, you may love black culture, but do you love black people? There's a difference". This is a rant, this is only a rant, build on it, critique it, hate or love, but if you read this do something for the Jena 6 and fight the war on youth of color.

P.S. a big middle finger to Hillary Clinton, lets be clear on who she is and where she comes from, with-hold the vote in '08

Palante, siempre, palante

Fake Tits of the Music Industry

Below find excepts from Rolling Stone's REVIEW NEW CDS entitled: Disco-Cyborg Takeover from the Alternate Takes subsection by Jow Levy:

...You know the sound pf Auto-Tune, at least pushed to its limits, when it produces the Vocoder-like Buy You a Drank and other summer ubiquities such as Rihanna's Umbrella or Sean Kingston's Beautiful Girls. All of them deploy the digital effect that comes when vocals are tuned too tight, a quavering disco-cyborg melisma that's become the keynote of so much of the Top Forty.
Auto-Tune is infamous for making possible careers that would never exist without it, allowing the turd polishing (as producers call it) that can turn well-packaged mediocre singers into stars. But used sparingly, it allows producers to seamlessly correct flat or sharp notes - literally to pull them in line with proper pith on a computer display - and it's likely that most of what you hear today is pitch corrected in one place or another. Not because vocalist can't sing - because they can't sing perfectly [I defer dramatically here as if your pitch vacillates and as a consequence you're pitch cacophonous - leave the singing to the Jill Scotts and Omars of said genre and/or sub-genre - you remaining oblique-pitchers face a corner as I instructed Swiss Beats months back]. "Auto-Tune is like the fake tits of the music industry," says one producer. That is, it both creates and fulfills inhuman standards of beauty.
Auto-Tune is nothing new, and neither is that disco-cyborg effect, which powered Cher's Believe nine years ago. There's no more sense in complaining that it's fake than there was in bitching about drum machines twenty years ago. But it dominates the current moment, for better or worse. It merges the singer and the track, reducing everything to technology, which is perfect for ringtones or music on YouTube. It has its uses. But it rarely sustains more than a song. Try listening to Rihanna's entire album (which has sold sluggishly, despite a massive hit single)and you'll soon know the truth of the philosophy limed by Justin Timberlake in the hook of 50 Cent's new single:"I'm tired of using technology/Why don't you sit down on top of me? "Sometimes, you want the human touch, even if it's a wobbly ... vocals no one was ever supposed to hear.

My two cents:
As a leitmotif Karen Yong partners Pearls Before Swine. Used thematically JVC Force is the doublet for Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection addressing Hip-Hop lyrics

+ JVC Force Bio per Andy Kellman at allmusic:

Long Island's JVC Force, a rap group whose name stands for "Justified by Virtue of Creativity for All Reasons Concerning Entertainment" (that would actually make them "J.V.C. Farce," but whatever) was a trio consisting of DJ Curt Cazal and MCs AJ Rok and MC B-Luv. Signed to B-Boy, the group broke out with an underground hit single in the form of "Strong Island." The song would become the group's signature moment, and though a few successive tracks came close to rivaling the song's greatness, the group was never able to top it. The group left two albums in its wake, 1988's Doin' Damage and 1990's Force Field.
